What is a Smile Makeover

What is a Smile Makeover?

TeamCosmetic Dentistry

The process of transforming your mouth to create a natural-looking, beautiful smile is known as a smile makeover. Because every individual is different, the procedures involved in a smile makeover will vary from individual to individual, depending upon your goals, and the current condition of your teeth and gums.

Fortunately, you can see for yourself what the final results of your smile makeover will yield thanks to state-of-the-art digital smile design technology. Using digital impressions of your smile, along with photos, Rosewood Dental will create a 3-D digital smile model. This model will then be projected into your mouth so that you can see what you’ll look like when your makeover is complete.

Once you’re satisfied with the results, a wax mockup of your new smile will be created. This mockup is necessary for our dentists to confirm not only the aesthetic appearance correct, but that your teeth and mouth remain completely functional.

Smile Makeover Procedures

Depending upon the current condition of your teeth a variety of cosmetic and restorative dental procedures may be employed to complete your smile makeover

Invisalign

If you’re happy with the size and shape of your teeth but want to correct imperfections such as gaps between teeth, crowded teeth, slanted teeth, or an overbite, Invisalign may be recommended as part of your smile makeover. Invisalign uses a series of clear plastic alignment trays to gradually shift your teeth into alignment and to correct minor to moderate overbites.

Teeth Whitening

Part of your smile makeover will likely include whitening your teeth. Professional teeth whitening systems can give you a brighter whiter smile in just weeks. In-office teeth bleaching is available at Rosewood Dental, or you may choose to whiten your teeth at home.

Dental Bonding

Dental bonding is an affordable way to beautify your smile. Dental bonding uses a plastic resin, applied to your teeth, which your dentist can then mold to reshape or resize your teeth. Dental bonding doesn’t last as long as porcelain veneers, but it can be used to transform your smile often in a single visit.

Porcelain Veneers

High-quality porcelain veneers can be fitted over your natural teeth, correcting a wide variety of imperfections. Misshapen teeth pitted, chipped, or gapped may all be corrected with porcelain veneers. Porcelain veneers offer a variety of benefits, including durability.

Dental Implants

Missing teeth can be replaced with dental implants and crowns, to fill spaces in your smile due to missing teeth. Dental implants are the gold standard for replacing missing teeth.

Bridges

As an alternative to implants, dental bridges can replace missing teeth in your mouth. There are a variety of types of bridges that can affix to crowns, existing teeth, or implants.

Crowns

Crowns can be used to cover decayed and non-functional teeth. Crowns are available in shades to match your other teeth, so no one has to know it’s not your natural tooth.

How Long Will My Smile Makeover Take?

Each person’s teeth and mouth are unique. As a result, your smile makeover will be custom-tailored to your needs and goals. Some individuals will need to have more dental procedures performed to achieve their desired outcome. Others may only need a simple straightening, whitening, and shaping of teeth.  It is impossible to say exactly how long your makeover will take until the digital model has been created. Some makeovers may be completed within months, while others take more than a year to complete.
